Priscilla of Boston, a couture bridal gown manufacturer, rose to prominence shortly after company founder Priscilla Kidder attended the New England School of Art for fashion design. She opened her first bridal shop in 1946 on Newbury Street in Boston. Excelling in the bridal markets, particularly in wholesale, Priscilla eventually opened a larger manufacturing business in a brick factory building in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Priscilla's bridal gown business had run from this location for sixty-five years, before the closing of its doors in late 2011. These images tell the story of a diverse group of highly skilled seamstresses, who meticulously handcrafted each unique, one of a kind gown that would sell for upwards of ten-to-fifteen thousand dollars a piece. From the beginning of the eight months, down to the very last moment when the factory shuttered its doors with nothing left, the spirit of Priscilla's presence was felt, along with the legacy that she had left behind.
